An Information and Image Packed Website
Hands On Training, LLC offers its clients specialized training in tactical medical and emergency medic training for high threat environments. The challenge presented was to build a website that showcased all of Jim’s experience and expertise as well as service offerings in a manner that would appeal to his broad cliental of law enforcement, school districts, businesses, security professionals, fire medics, and EMS personnel. Jim wanted a website rich in information and imagery.
Home Page Customizations
The goal for the home page was to capture the most pertinent information a potential client would want without having to traverse to another web page. Customizations I made to this page included custom borders around Jim’s profile image, a rotating carousal of pictures taken from training events, and incorporation of custom icons:
Replacing standard Squarespace bullets with red cross bullets
Using the logo icon from Jim’s Tactical Medical Field Guide at the junction of two sections.
Gallery Page Customizations
The Gallery page was a usability challenge as it contained hundreds of images and videos, grouped into 5 sections with each section representing a specific training event. Scrolling through the images to get to a particular training event section was impractical. Custom code was written to provide a floating bar at the top of this page (in yellow) containing links to each section as well as a link to return to the top of the web page.
